The internet has impacted my own personal learning significantly. Throughout my educational experience the internet has allowed me to access thousands of websites, articles, journals, videos, etc., which have all aided in my learning. There are a few sites that I go to regularly which include NBC News, Time, ESPN and most frequently it is my yahoo browser. Whenever I turn on my laptop there is always an article on my yahoo homepage that strikes my interest. Sometimes I end up spending close to an hour just browsing the latest news and sports stories. Since I am new to the Twitter world I haven't started following too many of these sites but I do have every intention of following ESPN and several authors/athletes. While the internet is an amazing thing, it has it's pros and cons, as does pretty much anything. Personally, the web helps my learning when I am getting my coursework done or have something specifically I need to do, for instance, get directions or check my email. On the other hand, there are several times it distracts me from learning as well. This happens when I get the urge to get on Instagram, Facebook, check the scores of games, or constantly download music. Although there are several ways to get distracted, the impact that technology has on learning seems to outweigh the negatives. You have a world of knowledge at your fingertips and all accessible with the push of a button. That is enough for me to continue to be avid supporter of technology and its continuous advancements.
